After days of flood and rainfall warnings southwestern Ontario might see a bit of a break from the downpour Friday, but Environment Canada warns there's more rain coming.

Heavy rains were pounding Toronto Friday morning, which caused the cancellation of some Toronto-bound flights from Windsor airport.

A rainfall warning is still in effect for all of southern Ontario, but meteorologist Peter Kimbell said the precipitation could be a bit lighter.

"Possibly not as heavy, but regardless, there's still going to be quite a bit more," he said. "We expect that by tonight that the worst will be over."

A total of 27 millimetres of rain had fallen at the Windsor Airport by Friday morning, according to Kimbell.

More rain is expected Saturday and there is even a chance of showers Sunday.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for Leamington and Pelee Island. High winds could lead to shoreline erosion.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority still has a flood watch in place for most of Windsor-Essex, which has now been upgraded to a warning for parts of Leamington, from Point Pelee over to Wheatley.
