Jeff Ellsworth, P.E.I. softball player, wins gold at Pan Am Games

Island softball player Jeff Ellsworth's final time playing for Team Canada was a golden one at the Pan Am Games.

On Saturday, the team won gold with a 2-1 win over Venezuela.

This was the first time men's softball had been played at the games since 2003, and marked Canada's eighth consecutive Pan Am Games title.

"I don't know if it put any extra pressure on the guys or not, but to be dominant for that long in an international event, it's pretty special and to have a close game against Venezuela 2-1 and to stay on top, it's a very rewarding feeling," said Ellsworth.

Ellsworth plans on retiring from playing to focus on coaching.
