P.E.I.'s Jeff Ellsworth heading to Pan Am Games
Last tournament for national team's co-captain
Jeff Ellsworth has one more tournament to take part in before retiring from playing softball.
The 37-year-old co-captain of the men's national softball team will be heading to Toronto for the Pan Am Games later this month.
Ellsworth, of Mill River and his teammates won gold on the weekend at the International Softball Federation Championship.
"To play in an international event like the Pan Ams so close to home and be part of the actual games experience it's going to be something that's going to be pretty special," said Ellsworth.
"I have a lot of family members that are coming up to this one so I'm really looking forward to the opening ceremonies at the Rogers Centre on Friday night. And then we start on Sunday evening so it's going to be a really really exciting tournament."
The other Island athlete going to the Pan Am Games is golfer Lorie Kane.
Ian MacAdam is going to the Pan Am Games as a track and field official.
MacAdam is also going to the Parapan Am Games as a track and field official with Mark Gilman.
