P.E.I. softball player Jeff Ellsworth named 2nd-best by website
Jeff Ellsworth, from St. Lawrence, is co-captain of the national team, now competing in world championships
P.E.I.'s Jeff Ellsworth, 37, has been named the second-best softball player in the world by a Facebook site devoted to fastpitch.
Ellsworth, from St. Lawrence in western P.E.I., is co-captain of the national softball team, which is in Saskatoon right now for the world championships.
Fastpitch World Media ranked Ellsworth number two in the top 40 players of the last four years.
"The individual accolades are nice, but it's all about the team championships, so it was nice to see, but the focus is definitely on this week and pushing forward."
Ellsworth will also go to the Pan Am Games this summer in Toronto and plans to retire after that.
So far, the other Island athlete going to the Pan Am Games is golfer Lorie Kane.
Ian MacAdam is going to the Pan Am Games as a track and field official. And MacAdam along with Mark Gilman are going to the Parapan Am Games, also as track and field officials.
