Ottawa police are investigating the sixth incident of gun play in the city in eight days, bringing to 37 the number of shootings in Ottawa in 2015.
No injuries reported after calls to police on Monday night
Ottawa police are investigating the sixth incident of gun play in the city in eight days, bringing the total number of confirmed shootings in Ottawa to 37 so far in 2015.
Multiple people called 911 at about 11 p.m. Monday after hearing what sounded like three to five gunshots, according to Ottawa police.
The calls came in from Rothbury Crescent, which is near the intersection of Montreal Road and the Aviation Parkway.
No injuries have been reported.
The guns and gangs unit is investigating.
Recent shootings
- Monday, Nov. 9: Just after 3 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in the back near Besserer and Chapel streets in Sandy Hill. He was taken to hospital with traumatic injuries. No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
- Monday, Nov. 9: At about 5:30 p.m., a man suffered non-life-threatening injuries when he was shot near Merivale and Baseline roads. No arrests have been made.
- Tuesday, Nov. 10: At about 4:30 p.m. someone heard a shot being fired and glass shattering. A vehicle was also spotted leaving the scene. No injuries were reported. Police later found shell casings. No arrests have been made.
- Thursday, Nov. 12: Just after 3 a.m. a 28-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound in his torso was found near the Alexandra Bridge. He was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition and refused to co-operate with police. No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
- Saturday, Nov. 14: Just after 8:30 p.m. 41-year-old Dady Jean was shot on the 300 block of Lacasse Avenue in Vanier. He died in hospital. No arrests have been made.
