At least 3 males sought after teen boy shot in Sandy Hill

Ottawa police are searching for at least three males after a 16-year-old boy was shot in the back Monday afternoon near Besserer and Chapel streets in Sandy Hill.

Ottawa police are searching for at least three males after a 16-year-old boy was shot in the back Monday afternoon near Besserer and Chapel streets in Sandy Hill.

Paramedics said teen was taken to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario with "traumatic injuries." Police said the teen was conscious but did not have details on the extent of his injuries.

A black convertible Mustang was seen driving south on Chapel Street following the shooting just after 3 p.m., police said. There were also reports of people running away after the shooting, police said.

​"The victim appears to have been by himself," said Inspector John Medeiros. "I don't have any information to determine motive at this point."

Police are asking the public to avoid the area.
