Death of man, 37, on western Manitoba reserve being investigated as homicide
The death of a 37-year-old man in a western Manitoba First Nation is being treated as a homicide, police say.
The man's body was found in Canupawakpa Dakota Nation by members of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service on Saturday, RCMP said in a Tuesday news release.
Police from the Canupawakpa detachment were asked to do a well-being check on the man just before 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 22, but they were unable to find him. They continued to followup without success, RCMP said.
His body was found by the First Nations Police Service eight days later, RCMP said. They did not indicate specifically where.
The First Nations Police Service and RCMP's crime services and forensics units are investigating the death.
They're asking anyone with information to call the First Nations Police Services tip line at 1-833-978-0048 or Manitoba Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or submit a secure tip online at manitobacrimestoppers.com.
