Christian Letander, 26, was found dead on the banks of the Winnipeg River on Monday, RCMP say
A missing 26-year-old Sagkeeng First Nation man has been found dead in the community of Fort Alexander, approximately 100 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, Powerview RCMP say.
Christian Letander's body was found on Monday along the banks of the Winnipeg River, an RCMP news release said Tuesday.
On Nov. 7, 2024, around 12:20 p.m., RCMP received a report that Christian James Letander had not been seen since the early morning hours of Nov. 3, on Letander Road.
Destiny Lameman, the mother of Letander's children, previously said Letander's grandfather had heard him crying on the riverbank after he was last seen, but he wasn't seen or heard from by anyone for more than a week after.
More than a dozen volunteers combed through the community over the weekend, searching with a dog and drones along with the RCMP to find Letander, Lameman said.
The death is currently under investigation by RCMP, who are awaiting autopsy results.
