1 seriously injured, 2 arrested in Waterloo region's 7th shooting this year

Police were called to the area of Ingleside Drive in Kitchener Wednesday afternoon for reports of shots fired. Two people were taken to hospital, one with serious but non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Two males were taken to hospital after a shooting in Kitchener Wednesday afternoon.

It was the second shooting in Waterloo region this week and makes for the seventh shooting investigation this year.

One male suffered a gunshot wound while another male was assaulted, police said in a news release. One of the males sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries, while the second male suffered minor injuries.

Officers were called to the area of Ingleside Drive in Kitchener's Victoria Hills neighbourhood at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday for reports of shots fired. Police say their investigation found a group of individuals were involved in an altercation.

A firearm was recovered as part of the investigation and two men have been arrested. A 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from outside the region, face weapons-related offences.
