Abandoned barn near Guelph destroyed in early morning fire
Another in a string of fires at abandoned buildings in the area
Fire crews were called to an abandoned barn south of Guelph early Monday morning.
The Guelph Fire Department received a call at 3:36 a.m. and arrived to find the barn at 7070 Fife Road fully involved.

The roof had collapsed and most of the walls had fallen in prior to the arrival of firefighters. The barn was located back from the road, hidden from view by several trees.
A defensive attack was used to knock down the remaining fire.
No one was injured in the blaze.
The cause of the fire and an estimate of the damage is still under investigation. Investigators from the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal were notified and will be involved, police said.

—@karnwt1Steve Goode, the chief of Puslinch Fire and Rescue Services, told CBC News in October that the recent string of fires in abandoned houses are endangering firefighters and tying up emergency resources.
Goode said the fire department was treating the fire at the home on Arkell Road as arson.
"There are no other factors that could cause such a house to erupt in flames. There is no hydro to it, it's not occupied so that eliminates many things," Goode said. "Lightning was not existent at the time."
