Fires in abandoned homes lead Wellington County OPP to issue warning
OPP are asking Wellington County residents to report any suspicious activity after they received multiple calls of incidents in the areas of Third Line between Wellington Road 124 and Highway 7.
OPP received multiple calls about the fires and other incidents between Oct. 11 and 19
In a little over a week, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police received two calls about fires in abandoned houses, calls about two vehicles entered and one call about mischief at a local business, plus a brush fire.
The calls were all centred around the Third Line are in Guelph-Eramosa Township, between Wellington Road 124 and Highway 7, and came in during October 11 to 19, according to a release.

OPP remind residents to:
- Lock doors and windows to your homes and garage.
- Lock vehicles and remove the keys even if they are in a garage.
- Leave the lights on outside.
- Do a regular check of your property.
- Secure valuable items.
