PewDiePie becomes first individual YouTuber to hit 100 million subscribers
Elamin Abdelmahmoud is Buzzfeed's social media editor and q's online columnist. Every couple of weeks, he brings us up to speed on the big headlines taking over the internet right now.
This week, he joins guest host Ali Hassan to explain why controversial YouTube star Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg is back in the headlines. The Swedish YouTuber recently hit 100 million subscribers, which makes him the first individual creator to have that distinction.
The milestone was acknowledged by YouTube with a congratulatory video, despite the fact that the company has previously tried to distance itself from the controversial content creator. Abdelmahmoud tells us more.
