How Hasan Minhaj's 'insider-outsider' relationship with America fuels his Netflix comedy show

Hasan Minhaj has a secret weapon when it comes to comedy. Although being brown and Muslim has made him feel like both an insider and outsider in America, he says he now sees that as his superpower.

Hasan Minhaj is the first Indian-American to host a weekly comedy show in the U.S. His new Netflix comedy series, Patriot Act, uses humour to give a sharp, biting take on big global issues. It's a blend of journalism and stand-up comedy that, in Minhaj's words, uses cutting-edge graphics that look "like Michael Bay directed a PowerPoint presentation."

Minhaj joined q guest host Ali Hassan to talk about how growing up brown and Muslim in America made him feel like both an insider and an outsider, and why he now sees that as his superpower.

Patriot Act is currently in the midst of Volume 4. You can catch new episodes every Sunday on Netflix.
