On Monday night, at least seven police cruisers and two ambulances were visible near a West Gate Public School parking lot. Police tape cordoned off the back lot of the school.

Police said the person who was shot received treatment from the department's nurse-police team and was taken to hospital for further care.

Investigators say the suspect is described as a Black man, about 5'6" tall and wearing a black ski mask over his face.

Police are asking residents and drivers in the area to check their dash cam and surveillance footage, especially between the hurs of 7 and 9 p.m., for possible evidence that might help in the ongoing investigation.
