Morelli scores brace to lift HFX Wanderers FC in comeback win over Atlético Ottawa

João Morelli scored a brace to guide the HFX Wanderers in their 2-1 comeback victory over Atlético Ottawa in CPL soccer action on Monday.

It was their 1st home game at Wanderers Grounds in Halifax in almost 2 years

João Morelli scored a brace to guide the HFX Wanderers FC in their 2-1 comeback victory over Atlético Ottawa in CPL soccer action on Monday.

The Brazilian striker tied the game at the 25th minute, just four after Trinidadian winger Ryan Telfer opened the scoring for Ottawa. Morelli got himself another goal at the 37th minute to give final numbers to the game.

It was the first HFX Wanderers FC home game at the Wanderers Grounds in Halifax in almost two years.

HFX Wanderers FC improved to 3-2-4 and sits sixth in the eight-team league with 11 points. They will host York United FC next on Saturday.

Atlético Ottawa dropped to 2-1-6 and remained last in the standings with 7 points. They will play Forge FC next at the Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ont. on Sunday.
