Summerside library packing up for 'big move'
Library will be closed starting Sunday as books, materials move to new location on Central Street
The Summerside Rotary Library on Water Street will be closed starting Sunday as staff and volunteers move thousands of books and other materials to their new location in the old post office building.
The Rotary Club of Summerside has purchased the building. "Friends of the Library" have chipped in $100,000.
Friends treasurer Gerard Greenan calls it the library's biggest move in decades.
"Took a while but we are going from the old train station down on Water Street and now to this new three-storey facility on Central Street. Big move and we're pretty excited," he said.
The Summerside Rotary Library will open at its new location Dec. 6.
