Ottawa soaks in the long Victoria Day weekend

It's a warm Victoria Day long weekend in and around Ottawa and people have been out taking advantage.

National Fiddling Day, Sheep Shearing Festival and Canadian Tulip Festival happen this weekend

It's a warm Victoria Day long weekend in and around Ottawa and people have been out taking advantage.

The Canadian Tulip Festival was a big draw for people from Ottawa and beyond.

For the first time ever, Ottawa hosted a National Fiddling Day party at city hall, bringing in nearly 50 musicians on Saturday.

There were also plenty of curious eyes on the stage inside the Old Cereal Barn at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum for a sheep shearing demonstration, part of its aptly-named Sheep Shearing Festival.

The Canadian Tulip Festival is officially ends on Victoria Day but blooms remain at many parks across the capital.

Other long weekend events Sunday include a polka dot bike ride from downtown to Wellington West, afternoon home games for the Ottawa Fury and Ottawa Champions, and of course, fireworks.
