Pictou County RCMP say three people are dead following a collision on Highway 106 at Mount William near New Glasgow.

In a news release Monday, police said crews responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash between the Trenton connector and Granton exit at around 10:45 p.m. AT on Sunday evening.

Once on scene, the RCMP said both vehicles were found "fully engulfed in flames."

The lone occupant of one vehicle, and the driver and passenger of the other were pronounced dead on scene.

Cpl. Carlie McCann said the RCMP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward, especially those who may have a dashcam or surveillance footage.

She said it's too early in the investigation to identify the cause of the crash or share information on the vehicles involved.

A collision reconstructionist visited the scene and an investigation is ongoing.
