A 79-year-old woman from Plympton, N.S., was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near the Marshalltown exit on Thursday afternoon.

Nova Scotia RCMP said in a news release that first responders were called to the crash site at 4:05 p.m. They found that a black Dodge Ram 1500 truck and a red Chevrolet Trax SUV had collided in the eastbound lane.

The woman had been driving the SUV.

Police said the driver of the truck had serious but not life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital.

There were no passengers in either vehicle, police said.

The highway was closed for several hours with traffic rerouted around the Digby and Marshalltown exits. That stretch of road has since reopened.

RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the crash or anyone who may have dashcam footage. They can be reached directly at 902-245-2579.
