One man dead after head-on crash on TCH near Clarenville

A crash involving a car and a gravel truck on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Clarenville on Friday killed one man and sent another person to hospital, the RCMP said.

A head-on crash involving a car and a gravel truck on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Clarenville, N.L. on Friday killed one man and sent another person to hospital, says the RCMP.

Police say the crash happened shortly before 1:45 p.m. NT. Friday afternoon about six kilometres west of Clarenville.

The 53-year-old man, who was the driver of the car, was ejected from the vehicle from the force of the collision and died at the scene, the RCMP said in a news release.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was sent to the hospital in Clarenville.

The RCMP says the investigation is continuing with help from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
