Winnipeg driver dies when gravel truck rolls following collision near Stony Mountain: RCMP
Sanding truck driver, 29, taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
A man from Winnipeg died on Monday afternoon after the gravel truck he was driving was hit by another truck near Stony Mountain, RCMP say.
A collision at the intersection of Highway 7 and Road 73 N, south of the community of Stony Mountain, was reported to RCMP shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, police said in a news release.
Officers saw a gravel truck and a sanding truck that had collided when they got to the intersection.
The sanding truck had been travelling west on Road 73 N when it entered the intersection and collided with the gravel truck, which was heading south on Highway 7, according to investigators.
The driver of the gravel truck, 45, died in the crash after the vehicle plunged into the ditch and rolled, police said.
The man driving the sanding truck, 29, who is from the rural municipality of West St. Paul, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP continue to investigate the crash.
