The Qikiqtaaluk Corporation opened Iqaluit's newest convenience store in the Plateau subdivision on Friday.

It has groceries, basic household items and an ATM.

Scott Clark, Qikiqtaaluk Corporation's director of sales and marketing, said the store's prices will be competitive.

"Our goal is to offer a full-variety at a very, very convenient price 365 days of the year."

Many people in Iqaluit are more excited about what's opening next door in two weeks. Attached to the convenience store will be a new café.

Clark said it will have all the Starbucks-type specialty drinks that are available in southern Canada.

He added that the new cafe and store may mean more jobs for Inuit youth.
