Air Canada is dropping one of its two daily flights between Whitehorse and Vancouver, starting in late October, and that has Yukon's tourism industry voicing concerns.

Yukon's Tourism Industry Association hopes to convince Air Canada to change its decision to reduce service to Whitehorse this winter.

The airline is dropping one of its two daily flights between Whitehorse and Vancouver for the winter, starting in late October.

Felix Geithner, the tourism association's chair, says losing capacity on the route is a serious issue.

"The importance of connection times in hub cities like Vancouver, the flight times in general, they are very important, but more so is the capacity that we have on daily basis coming into Whitehorse," he said.

Air Canada says a flight will continue to leave Whitehorse in the morning, with a return flight in the evening.
