#TBT: In 1996, a British sailor reunited with his WW II Newfoundland nurse
It took more than 50 years, but Patrick Preston finally said thank you to the woman who saved his life.
The attention and care that Patrick Preston received in Argentia left quite an impression on the former British sailor.
When his fuel ship was torpedoed by a German submarine near Newfoundland in 1942, Preston was treated for severe burns in the Argentia hospital.
He credited the attention from his nurse for saving his life.
And he never forgot her care. In 1996, the two reunited in Newfoundland.
CBC reporter Peter Walsh was there to capture the event.
