Chris LeDrew may be best known as a singer-songwriter, but his love of the steel guitar led to his latest album, Art of the Confessor.

He met Joshua Grange, the album's producer, through their connections with the steel guitar community.

"I've met almost every steel player who has come through town," said LeDrew.

LeDrew said he and Grange have been friends ever since Grange played steel guitar with Dwight Yoakam at a concert in St. John's in 2005.

LeDrew wound up travelling to Nashville to record Art of the Confessor at Grange's studio, with Grange serving as a producer.

LeDrew said working with Grange, who wasn't familiar with LeDrew's previous work, was just what he needed.

"He just had the songs in front of him, and he had a vision for what the record would sound like. And it's like nothing I would have done anywhere else."
