What's open, closed over the holidays in N.B.

Most retail and grocery stores in New Brunswick will be closed on Wednesday for Christmas Day and will remain closed on Thursday for Boxing Day. Transit won't operate on those days either and will end early on Christmas Eve.

Transit won't run on Christmas Day or Boxing Day

Most retail and grocery stores in New Brunswick will be closed on Wednesday for Christmas Day and will remain closed on Thursday for Boxing Day.

Transit won't operate on those days either and will end early on Christmas Eve.

Here's a look at what's open and what's closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day in the province.

Retail and grocery

Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24)

  • Sobeys locations close at 5 p.m.

  • Walmart have reduced hours. Most locations close at 6 p.m.

  • Atlantic Superstore locations close at 5 p.m.

  • N.B. Liquor and Cannabis N.B. locations close at 5 p.m.

  • Saint John City Market is open until 3 p.m.

  • Regent Mall in Fredericton, Champlain Place in Dieppe and McAllister Place in Saint John close at 5 p.m.

Christmas Day (Wednesday, Dec. 25)

  • Sobeys, Walmart and Atlantic Superstore is closed.

  • N.B. Liquor and Cannabis N.B. locations is closed

  • Regent Mall, Champlain Place and McAllister Place is closed.

  • Saint John City Market is closed.

Boxing Day (Thursday, Dec. 26)

  • Sobeys and Atlantic Superstore is closed.

  • Some Walmart locations are closed, while others are open.

  • N.B. Liquor and Cannabis N.B. locations are closed.

  • Regent Mall, Champlain Place mall and McAllister Place mall is closed.

  • Saint John City Market is closed.

Government offices, public services

Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24)

  • Saint John Transit stop service at 6 p.m.

  • Codiac Tranpo in Moncton stops service early, with the end time depending on the route.

  • Fredericton Transit begins at 6:15 a.m. with regular service until noon when half-hour service begins. All services will end at 7 p.m.

  • Fredericton arenas close at 3 p.m., while the indoor pool closes at 2 p.m.

  • Saint John city arenas are closed, except for free public skating at Stewart Hurley Arena and Peter Murray Arena.

  • Moncton's Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena and Greenfoot Energy 4-Plex closes at noon.

  • Saint John city offices, including the City Hall Customer Service Centre, closes at 3 p.m.

  • Fredericton city hall and municipal offices close at 3 p.m.

  • Moncton city hall closes at noon.

  • Saint John solid waste customers in Waterloo Village, Milford-Randolph, Main Street West, Greendale and Westmorland Heights aren't having evening collection and are asked to put garbage and compost curbside by 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 28.

  • Saint John solid waste customers in the South Central Peninsula are asked to put garbage and compost curbside by 10 p.m. on Dec. 23. 

  • All public libraries close at noon.

Christmas Day (Wednesday, Dec. 25)

  • Buses in Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton are not running.

  • Fredericton arenas and the pool are closed.

  • Saint John arenas are closed.

  • Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John city halls are closed.

  • Moncton waste collection scheduled for Dec. 25 is postponed to Dec. 28.

  • Saint John solid waste customers in Waterloo Village, Milford-Randolph, Main Street West, Greendale and Westmorland Heights will not have day collection and are asked to put garbage and compost curbside by 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 28.

  • Fredericton waste and recycling collection scheduled for Dec. 25 will be collected on Dec. 28 instead.

  • Service Canada and Service New Brunswick are closed.

  • All public libraries are closed.

Boxing Day (Thursday, Dec. 26)

  • Buses in Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton are not run.

  • Fredericton arenas and the pool are closed.

  • Saint John city arenas are closed, except for a free public skate at the Stewart Hurley and Charles Gorman arenas.

  • Fredericton, Moncton and Saint John city halls are closed.

  • Service Canada and Service New Brunswick are closed.

  • All public libraries are closed.
