Expect messy Christmas Eve weather in N.B.
Snowfall warnings issued for Fundy coast where some areas could see up to 40 cm
New Brunswickers wishing for a white Christmas are in luck, while those hoping for easy Christmas Eve travels may be out of it.
A storm forecast to bring up to 40 centimetres of snow to southern areas of the province is expected to hit late Monday and continue into Tuesday.
CBC meteorologist Ryan Snoddon said the Fundy coast is expected to see the most snow.
A snowfall warning has been issued by Environment Canada for areas around Saint John, Sussex, Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County.
The warning says totals ranging from 15 to 25 centimetres are expected, with up to 40 centimetres expected in areas of higher terrain.
Snoddon noted that the forecast has lower confidence than normal as the storm is expected to include small-scale bands that produce heavier snow.
Other parts of the province including Fredericton and Moncton are under a special weather statement warning of 10 to 15 centimetres of snow
Earlier on Monday, CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin said the snow is expected to be dry, but accompanied by wind gusts of 50 km/h which could make driving more difficult.
"It is manageable on the roads if there's not a lot of people out there," said Simpkin.
"Do expect if you're going to be having to get out on the roads tomorrow afternoon to use caution. It definitely will be slippery."
