Montreal police arrested one of the province's most sought-after alleged criminals early Saturday morning.

Frédérick Silva, 38, appeared in court Saturday afternoon to be charged with two counts of murder in connection with two separate incidents.

Police allege that Silva is responsible for the death of a 28-year-old man who was shot in the parking lot of Cabaret Les Amazones, a strip club in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, in 2017.

He has also been charged in connection with a murder in Laval that took place Oct. 11, 2018.

Silva is also believed to have been involved in the attempted murder of an organized crime figure in the Lachenaie neighbourhood of Terrebonne in 2017.

In all, he faces two charges of murder, one attempted murder and one weapons possession charge.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Silva was arrested around 1 a.m., as part of a joint effort by the Montreal police, Sûreté du Québec and RCMP.

According to the RCMP website, on the night of the 2017 shooting in NDG, a man who was with Silva at the club touched the victim's spouse "in a sexual way."

A fight ensued, and the victim and his friends were thrown out of the strip club.

Soon after, Silva allegedly went outside to the parking lot, approached the man from behind and shot him. The victim has never officially been identified.
