Heading for a record for Sing-In charity drive for NDG Food Depot

By the end of a full day of live broadcasts from the NDG Food Depot, CBC Montreal's Christmas Sing-In charity drive had brought in more than $35,000 for the non-profit organization.

CBC personalities broadcasted live all day Friday from the NDG Food Depot on Marlowe Ave.

By the end of a full day of live broadcasts from the NDG Food Depot, CBC Montreal's Christmas Sing-In charity drive had brought in more than $35,000 for the non-profit organization.

That's a record-breaking amount, even beating out last year's unsurpassed total of $30,516.70.

The depot, which has been serving the community since 1986, is a non-profit organization that distributes food to thousands of families in NDG, Westmount and Montreal West.

Where does your donation end up?

  • CBC Charity Drive: NDG Food Depot breaks isolation

  • $2 = buys healthy snacks in a kids' lunch for a week.
  • $5 = buys basic vegetables for a family with 2 children's emergency food basket.
  • $20 = buys fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs and milk for that family for a month.

The 35th anniversary edition of the Sing-In collected $9,390 in voluntary donations to the free event, bringing the total funds collected for the NDG Food Depot by Dec. 13 to $44,822.
