Winnipeg police release images of person wanted in October machete attack
Police are searching for person approximately 5'10" who was seen wearing dark jeans and hoodie
Winnipeg police have released photos taken from video surveillance to help identify a person involved in a machete attack last month.
Police previously said the victim, a 56-year-old man, was walking eastbound on Ellice Avenue near Beverley Street around 4:15 a.m. on Oct. 25 when a person he didn't know approached him from behind.
Police were called to the Health Sciences Centre in downtown Winnipeg at 5:05 a.m. with report of an injured man who showed up at the hospital with life-altering injuries from an assault with a weapon.
The attack was unprovoked, police previously said.
Police previously described the suspect as a male who is approximately five foot 10, with a thin build and long dark hair. He was last seen wearing black and white Nike Air Jordan shoes, dark pants and a dark hoodie featuring "02" on the back, police said in an updated release on Saturday.
The age of the attacker is unknown, police said.
The major crimes unit continues to investigate and is asking for the public's assistance to identify the person accused in the attack.
