Police and search and rescue volunteers were in northeast Calgary looking for evidence on Saturday in the slaying of a 24-year-old woman almost a week ago.

Investigators released Sarah Nicole Rae's cause of death on Saturday in the hopes it will generate tips from the public in tracking down her killer. They said the Calgary woman, who was found in a house in the 6100 block of 4th Avenue N.E. on Aug. 3, was stabbed to death.

Police said they continue to search for a weapon as well as any clothing the suspect may have thrown away in an attempt to hide evidence of the crime.

They're asking people who live within 10 blocks of the crime scene to watch out for sharp-edged weapons or clothing that may have been discarded in their garbage cans or yards.

Anyone finding such items is asked to avoid handling them and to call police immediately.
