E-cigarette ban in Calgary recommended by city committee

A city hall committee has endorsed a ban on e-cigarettes in public places. If city council approves the recommendation, vaping would be banned in all the places where tobacco smoking is not allowed.

Suggested fines if council approves ban are $100 to $200

A city hall committee has endorsed a ban on e-cigarettes in public places.

If city council approves the recommendation, vaping would be banned in all the places where tobacco smoking is not allowed.

The suggested fines are $100 to $200.

The committee recommendation also asks the mayor to send a letter to Alberta's health minister for a provincial e-cigarette strategy.

The ban still has to be voted on by city council later this month.
