One person dead after Richmond house fire starts in bedroom

One person died in a north Richmond B.C. house fire overnight that appears to have started in the bedroom.

A person died in a north Richmond B.C. house fire overnight after flames appear to have started in the bedroom.

Firefighters were called to a fire at 12:40 a.m. PT and found one room of a house "fully involved."

Richmond Deputy Chief Kim Howell said the fire engulfed one bedroom, but it was extinguished before it spread to the rest of the home.

"There was a fatality," said Howell,

Three other occupants of the home on Riverdale Drive were taken to hospital and are being treated for smoke inhalation, she said.

Richmond RCMP are investigating the incident.
