Police investigate shooting in East Vancouver

There were no injuries, but bullet casings were found in the 5600 block of Tyne Street Wednesday night.

Police investigators closed off traffic on Tyne Street just north of Kingsway for nearly an hour after residents reported hearing gunshots in the area. (Gian-Paolo Mendoza/CBC)

Vancouver Police are investigating a shooting in East Vancouver late Wednesday evening.

Residents in the 5600 block of Tyne Street say they heard gunshots around 10:30 p.m. PT. Soon after, police came to the scene.

One resident said he saw officers with large rifles running up and down his street after he heard the shots. 

Police say they found bullet casings in the area, but could not find the suspects.

No one was injured in the shooting, which is the eighth in Vancouver so far this year.
