Almost a year after someone won $50 million with a ticket sold in Langley, B.C., a ticketholder has come forward to claim the prize, according to the B.C. Lottery Corporation.
The winning ticket was presented on Monday to the B.C. Lottery Corporation, which said in a release, "We can confirm that it is the genuine ticket and have validated it in our system."
There has been "unprecedented" interest in the prize as the one-year deadline to claim it approached, said the corporation.
It is still verifying whether the person claiming the prize — who has not been identified — is the rightful ticketholder.
The winning numbers were 3, 4, 5, 7, 31, 33 and 40, with bonus number 49.
The jackpot ties the largest lottery prize ever won in B.C.
