These wheelchair-using moms share some of their joys and fears about parenting with a disability
"All they want is for you to talk to them, play with them."
Being a mom with a physical disability in an able-bodied family has both challenges and rewards. Brittney Neunzig has a teen and a pre-teen and she says, "I'm so proud of the people they are becoming, not despite my disability but because of it."
She describes the pride her son felt when, at 14, he was able to lift her into a spot for the first time. "You would not believe the joy on my son's face that he could help me."
Meanwhile, Natasha Urkow is a new parent who worries about her ability to be a good mom. "The fear is relentless … how am I going to pick him up when he's crying?"
Needing some moral support, Tash reaches out to Britt for advice. Check out the clip above to watch them have an honest heart-to-heart about parenting while in a wheelchair.
