This week, the incredible collection of Franklin Brooke-Hitching will go up for auction. It includes more than 1400 volumes by such explorers as Cook, Drake, Darwin, Raleigh and Shackleton. Sotheby's director of books and manuscripts Richard Fattorini says it is an amazing collection.

From fabric swatches collected by James Cook to a remaining copy of the first printed map of Australia, to the first book to be printed in Antarctica, the rare collection goes up for auction on Thursday.
