Sarnia police arrest man after truck runs over flock of ducks, geese at park
It happened at Centennial Park, leaving bystanders distressed, police say
Sarnia police say they've arrested a man in connection with an incident on Saturday in which a person allegedly drove a pickup truck through a flock of ducks and geese, killing four of them.
The incident happened at Centennial Park on Front Street, according to a news release issued Saturday by the Sarnia Police Service.
Park goers were feeding ducks and geese when a dark-coloured truck entered the parking lot, and, police say, remained parked in a corner for a few minutes before revving its engine and driving directly through the flock of birds, striking four of them.
The truck then left the area eastbound on London Road.
Police arrived and found two deceased ducks, one living duck and a deceased Canada goose in the parking lot, along with several distressed bystanders.
Animal control arrived at the scene, but the injured duck later succumbed to its injuries, police said.
The service posted an update Sunday on X, formerly Twitter, saying officers had arrested a 31-year-old Petrolia man in connection with the incident.
He is facing multiple charges.
