Peel police say they are looking for a dark-coloured vehicle with front-end damage after a hit and run in Mississauga early Wednesday left a woman with life-threatening injuries.

The collision happened just after midnight in the intersection of Bristol Road West and Loonlake Avenue, said Const. Richard Chin.

The woman was crossing Bristol southbound when she was hit by a driver heading east, according to Chin. The driver did not stop and continued eastbound on Bristol, he added.

The woman was taken to a trauma centre, where she remains.

Chin said the damage to the front end of the vehicle would be "extensive."

Anyone with dashcam video or information that could help investigators is asked to contact Peel police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
