Elderly woman dead after crash in Vaughan, police say

An elderly woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Vaughan on Sunday afternoon, York Regional Police say.

An elderly woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Vaughan on Sunday afternoon, York Regional Police say.

The collision, which involved an SUV and a sedan, happened at around 1:15 p.m. in the intersection of Major Mackenzie Drive W. and Dufferin Street, police said. 

In a news release Monday, police said an 85-year-old Richmond Hill woman who was a passenger in the sedan was taken to a trauma centre, where she was pronounced dead. 

There were no other injuries, police said, and the driver of the SUV remained at the scene.

Any witnesses who have yet to speak to investigators or anyone with video of the area around the time of the collision is being asked to contact police.
