2 killed in a crash on Highway 17, between Sudbury and North Bay

The OPP say two people were killed in a crash Thursday morning on Highway 17, in West Nipissing, between Sudbury and North Bay.

Two people were killed in a crash Thursday morning on Highway 17, in West Nipissing, said Ontario Provincial Police in a news release.

Police said two vehicles collided on the highway, between Sudbury and North Bay. A 69-year-old person from Wawa, Ont., was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 74-year-old person from Sault Ste. Marie died at a local hospital and another person was also transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Three other people were treated at the scene of the crash with minor injuries.

Police said the highway was closed for eight hours. An OPP investigation is ongoing.
