Victoria Park Roadway closed to traffic for boardwalk construction
Boardwalk construction is expected to be finished by the end of November
A section of the Victoria Park Roadway in Charlottetown is closed to traffic until further notice while construction on the city's aging boardwalk continues.
Traffic will only be allowed on the roadway from Terry Fox Drive to Parkway Driveway to access the tennis courts.
The Victoria Park bike lane is also closed for the season as of Tuesday.
The city is in the middle of replacing 1.2 kilometres of the boardwalk, from the swimming pool to Beaconsfield Historic House, which is expected to be wrapped up by the end of November.
Foot traffic is still permitted on the boardwalk, and there signs in place to direct pedestrians around the section that's under construction.
The work, which started in September, is being done in sections to keep as much of the boardwalk open to pedestrians as possible.
The city has said the 20-year-old boardwalk needs to be replaced. The boardwalk is also being widened to 10 feet from eight feet.
