Victoria Park Roadway in Charlottetown closed weekday mornings
Charlottetown's Victoria Park Roadway is closed to all traffic from 7 to 9 a.m. on weekdays so crews can deliver lumber, move machinery and adjust fencing — part of the ongoing replacement of the boardwalk.
City continues construction on the aging boardwalk
More construction has shut down a busy roadway in downtown Charlottetown — but this time it'll benefit walkers, not drivers.
The Victoria Park Roadway is closed to all traffic from 7 to 9 a.m. Monday to Friday so crews can deliver lumber, move machinery and adjust fencing.
The city is in the middle of replacing 1.2 kilometres of the boardwalk, from the swimming pool to Beaconsfield Historic House.
The work, which began in September, is being done in sections to keep as much of the boardwalk open to pedestrians as possible.
The city has said the 20-year-old boardwalk is aging and needs to be replaced. The boardwalk is also being widened to 10 feet from eight feet.
The morning, two-hour closure is expected to last for several weeks.
