Family of Cape Breton woman who's been missing since September say it’s a Christmas miracle she has been found.

Chrisma Ann Joy Denny of the Eskasoni First Nation was last seen Sept. 11 at the Eskasoni band office.

It's believed she left Nova Scotia with a trucker and made her way to Knoxville, Tennessee. She was out of contact with her family until Sunday, Dec. 21, when she was found at a women’s shelter.

“We are very happy today,” said Elaine Denny, Chrisma’s aunt. “Our girlie is coming home.”

Denny says she believes her niece headed south to get work raking blueberries.

Chrisma Denny is flying to Maine, where cousin, Mindy Denny is picking her up for the drive back to Cape Breton.

Elaine Denny says they are expected back sometime late Tuesday.

“I think it’s a miracle, a Christmas miracle, that’s what I call it,” Elaine Denny said.
