A Cape Breton woman who's been missing since September has been found.

Chrisma Ann Joy Denny of the Eskasoni First Nation was last seen Sept. 11 at the Eskasoni band office.

It's believed she left Nova Scotia with a trucker and made her way to Knoxville, Tennessee. She was out of contact with her family until Sunday, Dec. 21.

Family members like her aunt Elaine Denny say they have no idea how or why she ended up in Tennessee. They're just overjoyed to hear she's okay.

"She's found and she wants to come home," Elaine Denny says.

Chrisma's cousin, Mindy Denny, says Chrisma is at a women's shelter in Tennessee.

Mindy Denny is heading to the United States to bring Chrisma home.

"I've been looking for her day and night," Denny says, "so when I called her I spoke with her and asked her right away, 'how are you?'  And she said, 'I'm good.'"

Denny says her cousin appears to be in good spirits and is looking forward to getting back to Cape Breton.
