Jason Watkins and Kevin Willmott, Team #73 from Labrador West, are the winners of the 2014 Cain's Quest.

After a gruelling week at what's considered to be the world's longest endurance snowmobile race, the remaining teams crossed the finish line on Saturday.

As the winners, Watkins and Willmott receive a $50,000 prize. Second and third place finishers will also receive money, from the total prize purse of $100,000.

Fewer than a dozen teams were expected to finish. At the start, 29 were registered for the 3,300-kilometre trek.

The event is so challenging that four teams had to drop out as early as the first day.

Cain's Quest Chair Todd Kent said this is the type of race that fans have come to expect.

Kent said everyone who crossed the finish line should feel proud.

"It's been gruelling. It's been cold," said Kent.

"Cain's Quest has lived up to its reputation in terms of being the toughest in the world. What these guys have went through over the last six or seven days, I think they deserve a grand welcome at the finish line."

Teams began crossing the finish line before noon on Saturday.
