Gas, diesel both up across Avalon Peninsula
Diesel has passed $2 per litre for first time since April
The cost of driving, and heating your home, spiked across most of Newfoundland and Labrador Thursday morning, with the price of diesel rising six cents per litre, and furnace and stove oil jumping by over five cents.
The Public Utilities Board's pricing adjustment puts the price of diesel on the Avalon Peninsula at $2.019 per litre. That marks the first time since April diesel has passed $2 per litre in the region.
Elsewhere, diesel prices range between $2.02 and $2.13 per litre across the rest of Newfoundland and between $1.81 and $2.25 per litre in Labrador. Diesel prices in Labrador West and Churchill Falls increased by 5.9 cents per litre.
The price of gasoline also rose 2.2 cents per litre. Customers on the Avalon — where gas is usually cheapest — will pay a maximum price of $1.73 per litre, but prices range between $1.73 and $1.89 per litre depending on your location in Newfoundland, and between $1.73 and $2.15 per litre if you're in Labrador.
The price of furnace oil increased by over 5.1 cents per litre, meaning customers in Newfoundland will now pay maximum prices between $1.33 and just over $1.51 per litre.
Stove oil increased by over 5.4 cents across the province, except by just over five cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. The adjustment puts maximum prices between $1.31 and just over $1.49 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.20 and $1.69 per litre in Labrador.
Propane also increased, up 3.3 cents per litre, That means maximum prices in Newfoundland now range between $1.10 and $1.23 per litre, while prices in Labrador range between 96 cents and $1.31 per litre.
