The price of gas is down across Newfoundland and Labrador on Thursday.

But rather than a traditional uniform drop in all pricing regions, the Pubic Utilities Board lowered the price of gas across Newfoundland in a range between 0.1 cents and 1.3 cents per litre, depending on location. The price of gas dropped by 1.3 cents per litre in Churchill Falls and Labrador West.

The varying numbers are the result of a zone differential increase across Newfoundland's different pricing zones — ranging between 0.1 cents on Bell Island and one cent on the Connaigre Peninsula and Rencontre East pricing zones — alongside changes in the market, according to a news release.

Another similar increase will happen on March 13.

The adjustment means customers on the Avalon Peninsula will pay a maximum price of $1.70 per litre. Prices for the fuel vary across the rest of the province, but range between $1.71 and $1.85 across the rest of Newfoundland and between $1.73 and $2.16 per litre in Labrador.

The price of diesel also decreased in a range across Newfoundland, down between 1.1 and 2.2 cents per litre, and by 2.2 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. Prices for the fuel now range between $2 and $2.12 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.81 and $2.25 per litre.

Furnace oil also decreased by a range of 0.9 to 1.9 cents per litre, meaning customers in Newfoundland will now pay maximum prices between $1.32 and $1.51 per litre depending on their location.

Stove oil decreased by over 1.7 cents per litre in Labrador West and Churchill Falls. The change means prices for the fuel now range between $1.20 and $1.69 per litre across Labrador.

Propane was the lone fuel to increase in price, up 1.6 cents per litre across the province. Maximum propane prices now range between $1.18 and $1.33 per litre in Newfoundland and between $1.01 and $1.46 per litre in Labrador.
