Man, 21, charged with 2nd-degree murder in death of his mother in LaSalle
Incident marks 1st homicide on SPVM's territory this year
A 21-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his mother in LaSalle.
On Thursday, Montreal police received a 911 call at approximately 11:35 a.m., requesting a welfare check at a residence on Turley Street, near Dora Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the body of Lisa Marie Rytar, 42.
Her body showed signs of violence, according to a spokesperson with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The man was arrested Thursday and appeared in court on Friday.
According to the prosecution, the victim was killed on Tuesday. The case is expected back in court on Feb. 25.
This incident marks the first homicide of the year on the SPVM's territory, police say.
