Central Huron resident dead in New Year's Day crash north of London

Provincial police say a resident from Central Huron is dead after a crash between an SUV and a truck hauling a cattle trailer on Wednesday.

A resident from Central Huron is dead after a crash between an SUV and a truck hauling a cattle trailer north of London, Ont., on Wednesday. 

Huron County OPP said the collision happened just after 1:35 p.m. on Blyth Road near Hensall Road north of Mitchell in Huron East. The lone driver of the truck, who police said was 32 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. 

Neither vehicle had passengers on board. However, police said several cattle needed to be put down at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Blyth Road was closed for some time but has since reopened.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to call 1-888-310-1122.
